Relationships are our foundation
After many years of counselling people from all walks of life, I have seen time and time again the vital importance of having healthy, fulfilling relationships.
My abiding passion as a professional counsellor and psychotherapist is to help individuals and couples foster the best possible relationships with those they share their lives with, giving them the emotional and psychological tools they need to flourish long after our time together.
As the owner and principal counsellor at Tide Counselling, I’m dedicated to helping find the right path for your needs.
Weathering the storm
Every individual’s life can have its ups and downs, just as each day presents us with a different set of challenges.
The general counselling services I offer will help you navigate a wide range of issues, including everything from depression and anxiety to the need for extra support at a difficult time.
Think of me as someone you can talk to without fear of judgement. Our therapeutic relationship can help you identify what worries you and develop strategies for recovery and resilience.
As a fully qualified counsellor, I’m devoted to best practice in my field and always willing to help.
Helping couples to thrive together
A number of studies point out that the quality of our relationships affects the quality of our lives. Perhaps the most important relationship people have is with their significant other.
That’s why in my calling as a counsellor and psychotherapist I have undertaken specialised training in relationship therapy, working with couples to help them overcome the inevitable ups and downs that relationships can bring.
In my relaxed, safe space, we can look at all the worries and concerns you may have and talk through strategies to overcome them, making your bonds more resilient while ensuring you both feel listened to and understood.
I can also work with couples individually to help them understand how their relationships are interlinked, with the goal of strengthening those bonds and improving the ways those links are maintained.
I also emphasise evidence-based approaches, such as The Gottman Method and couples therapy that is emotionally focused.
My relationship and couples therapy sessions are beneficial at every stage, whether it’s in a preventative manner or during a crisis. My goal is always the same – to help find ways to strengthen relationships.
Crisis counselling and adapting to life changes
Becoming a parent is one of life’s biggest challenges.
One day you’re expecting a baby and are feeling excited about the future. The next, you’re struggling with the reality of life with a newborn.
While becoming a mother or father is a wonderful blessing and can be a source of great joy, it can also place a great strain on relationships, particularly between couples.
Drawing on my extensive background in crisis counselling, I work with couples and families to help them adapt to parenthood, strengthening their relationships so they can all thrive together and enjoy being parents.
My work in the youth and family sector allows me to understand the deeper issues at play when couples or families become strained, particularly when adapting to parenthood.
I can help every step of the way, from counselling before the baby is born to sessions after the birth, creating a safety net for what can be a giant leap for many people.
